Safeguarding
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
At Studley Youth Foundation, the safety, happiness, and well-being of our members are our highest priority. We are fully committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where all young people feel respected, valued, and protected from harm.
Our safeguarding promise is built on the belief that every young person has the right to feel safe and be safe.
How We Keep Our Members Safe
To ensure we uphold our commitment, we have the following robust measures in place:
-
Safer Recruitment: All staff and volunteers undergo a rigorous recruitment process, including an interview, reference checks, and an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check before they can begin working with young people.
-
Comprehensive Training: Every member of our team, from senior leadership to casual volunteers, receives regular and up-to-date safeguarding training. This ensures they are equipped to identify concerns, respond appropriately, and understand their responsibilities.
-
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): We have a dedicated and specially trained Designated Safeguarding Lead who acts as the first point of contact for all safeguarding concerns. We also have a Deputy DSL to ensure support is always available.
-
Clear Policies and Procedures: We have a clear and comprehensive Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, which is reviewed annually. This policy outlines the procedures we follow to handle any concerns, allegations, or disclosures.
-
A Culture of Listening: We actively encourage our young members to speak up if something is worrying them. We foster an environment where they know they will be listened to, taken seriously, and supported without judgment.
-
Codes of Conduct: We operate with clear Codes of Conduct for staff, volunteers, and our young members. These codes outline expected behaviours and help us maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere for everyone.
Information for Parents & Carers
